SIR JAMES BROOKE Print E-mail

SIR JAMES BROOKE -- A brief note from SIR JAMES BROOKE to DR. RIGBY,
regarding his late seizure, has been received by MR. JOHN LONGE.

In it he says: - "Tell dear Longe and the rest, that in life or death I am
their loving schoolfellow and friend."  Brief though it be, these few words
speak volumes.  He looks at it "as a warning to set his house in order."
The writing indeed indicates that the blow has told upon his frame, but that
the spirit of Brooke is the same - the same in warm affection, the same in
moral strength.  The message will be received by his schoolfellows with
sincere regret, but with the affectionate regard which has always awaited
him. - 'Norwich Mercury'
