CHURCH PASTORAL AID SOCIETY ON SUNDAY, the 28th inst., (D.V.,) SERMONS will be preached, and Collections made on behalf of the above Society, in the following Churches:- In the Morning at ST. CUTHBERT'S, and in the Evening at CHRIST CHURCH, by the REV. H. McNEILE, D.D. HONORARY CANON OF CHESTER. On the following day, the 29th, the ANNUAL MEETING of the Carlisle Association of the Society will be held in the LECTURE ROOM of the ATHENAEUM, at Seven o'Clock in the Evening THE LORD BISHOP IN THE CHAIR. The Rev. Dr. McNEILE will attend as Deputation; and the Very Rev. the DEAN OF CARLISLE, and other friends are expected to give their support on the occasion. November 17th, 1858. ___________________________________________ CARLISLE YOUNG MEN'S CHRISTIAN ASSOCIATION ON TUESDAY, NOVEMBER the 23rd, 1858, a LECTURE, by the Rev. HUGH STOWELL BROWN, of Liverpool, on "HOGARTH AND HIS PICTURES", will be delivered in the ATHENAEUM LECTURE HALL. Chair to be taken at Eight o'clock. Admission: ;- Reserved Seats, 1s; Second Seats, 6d; Back Seats, 3d. Members Free to Back Seats, Half-Price to First and Second Seats. Tickets to be had at the Rooms of the Association, 42, Fisher Street; or of GEORGE COWARD, Bookseller, Scotch Street. ____________________________________________ CARLISLE CHURCH OF ENGLAND RELIGIOUS AND GENERAL LITERARY ASSOCIATION, IN UNION WITH THE "SOCIETY OF ARTS." THE Council have much plesure in announcing that a Course of FIVE LECTURES will be delivered in the ATHENAEUM, by the Rev. G. R. MONCRIEFF, M.A., one of the H.M. Inspectors of Schools, on the RELIGIOUS ASPECTS OF THESE TIMES. LECTURE I..........................Doctrinal Developements LECTURE II.........................Practical Teaching LECTURE III........................Social Influence LECTURE IV........................Missionary Enterprise LECTURE V.........................Educational Progress The First Lecture of the above Course, on DOCTRINAL DEVELOPEMENTS, will be delivered on WEDNESDAY EVENING, 8th December, next. The Doors will be open at half-past 7 o'Clock, and the Lecture will commence at 8 precisely. Tickets of Admission for each Lecture, 6d each; for the Course 2s; Family Tickets for the Course to admit Three, 5s; to admit Six or more of the same Family, 10s; may be had at the ATHENAEUM, Lowther Street, Mr. HARRIS, Castle Street, or the Secretary of the Lecture Committee, Mr. JAMES BARNES.
