week, supplied an amusing illustration of the estimation in which the
agreeable accommodation of the Bath Gaol is held by the non-industrious
classes.

A beggar, of eight years' standing in the "profession", was charged with
begging for a coat, with the intention, it was believed, of pawning it.

EFFECTS OF AGRICULTURAL EXHIBITIONS.  Nothing induces improvement and
superiority so much as emulation and rivalry.  Many of the animals which
obtained the prizes at the late show, partially owe their success to the
fact that they and their predecessors have been fed on Thorley's Food for
Cattle.  Hundreds of agriculturists can speak to the beneficial effects
which have resulted from the use of this invaluable Food.  'Star of Gwent',
