MANCHESTER, Tuesday, November 16. - the tone of the yard market to-day is
healthy; and the business effected by various classes of home and foreign
buyers is of fair extent, although in some degree interfered with by the
non-arrival of the American packet, and of two mails from the Continent.  In
mule twist and weft from about 50's downward, and in all numbers of water
twist, prices are at least firm.  Warps generally are stiff; as are also the
various twist and weft cops, from 32's upwards, suitable for the Blackburn
market.  In 4's to 12's mule and water there is a little improvment, the
latter being quoted 1/8d higher.  Spinnings from 60's upwards are not marked
by a firmness like that in lower counts; neither are twofolds, though some
doublers of 60's say they can sell more than they could last week.  There is
an increased demand for 7/8 and 9-8 printing cloths, in 66 and 72 reeds, and
of good qualities; and prices are therefore tending upward.  Some of the
lighter 7/8 are also in fair request.  Certain kinds of T cloths show some
improvement; and longcloths are not so flat as they were.

HUDDERSFIELD, Tuesday, November 16. - Business has again been quiet in our
market this morning, and the attendance of buyers inconsiderable.  A steady
trade is being done, however, in first-class fancy trouserings, fancy
coatings, and Bedford and woollen cords.  Black doeskins and superfines, as
also other descriptions of plain goods, are selling slowly and in small
parcels.  ***, and low woollens suitable for the shipping trade, are
scarcely inquired for.  The country trade continues depressed; orders being
few in number, small in amount, very difficult to obtain, and still more
difficult to get paid for when the accounts become due.

LEEDS, Tuesday, November 16. - We had not a numerous attendance of merchants
and clothiers in the Halls to-day, but this was scarcely to be expected,
when it is remembered that the wool sales are now on, and that many
intending buyers will at present be in town, noting the probabilities of the
market, and the prospect of rates for the next few weeks.  The
cloth-producing districts around Leeds are still busy, and are likely to be
so for some time, either with orders, or with goods likely to suit the
demand for the approaching season.

BRADFORD, Monday, November 15. -  The wool market remains quiet.  The high
price of wool is such that spinners and manufacturers decline to operate,
except where necessity demands, to supply immediate and pressing
requirements.  Wool has risen to such a price that many regard our position
as dangerous, and exercise the greatest caution.  In worsted yarns there is
a fair business doing, especially for the home trade.  The export houses,
however, are doing very little.

ROCHDALE, Monday, November 17. - Wool:  compared with last Monday we have
had more inquiry and more doing in our wool warehouses to-day.
Manufacturers, however, give very ***illingly the advances demanded last
week, and which are *** fully insisted upon, and staplers complain that
their stocks *** *roke are small, and that fellbrokers demand higher rates
than ******  which they are now selling.  Skin wool is rather more ***  **
had a more active trade than for the last fortnight in ***, and to-day there
has been quite an active demand for all descriptions of goods.  There are no
stocks in the hands of ***ufacturers; and pieces, as fast as made, are
called for.  One of the largest firms in town has this last week been
running overtime with a portion of their adult hands.  the Yorkshire trade
is very good to-day.  Generally the state of trade is active.

BLACKBURN, Wednesday, November 17. - The market to-day has been somewhat
animated, and prices of most descriptions of yarn are 1/8d higher since last
week.  In 32's twist this improvement is more manifest than in the finer
counts.

LIVERPOOL COTTON MARKET, Wednesday, November 17. - The Europa's advices are
not fully developed; probably they will reach here to-morrow.  There has
been a good attendance of the trade, and prices are partially 1/3d dearer
than Friday last.  The sales to-day are 10,000 bales, including 2,000 on
speculation and for export.
