We regret to announce the death of Major-General Henry J. WOOD, C.B., of the
Bengal Artillery, suddenly, at the Trinity Railway Station, Edinburgh, about
half-past nine o'clock on Saturday evening.  The deceased had been dining
with a friend at Trinity, and was on his return to the Royal Hotel, where he
had been residing.  General WOOD entered the Indian Army in 1810, served in
the Sutlej campaign of 1846, at Bhurtpore in 1825, and at Java in 1814. -
