October ?8th. - The fat fair was held in Sandgate, when the market was exceedingly well stocked with cattle and sheep. The trade was in consequence dull, and prices bad, a downward tendency especially for cattle. Indeed of this class, inferior animals with difficulty sold for 21s per stone, and although animals of a better sort brought 22s 6d., upwards of half the number shown, left the market unsold. There was a better sale for sheep, and a clearance was effected at the following prices: - ewes, 4d; Lambs, 4-3/4d. to 5d.; weathers, 4d to 4-3/4d. per lb. sinking the offal. WELSH CATTLE. - Cattle fairs, since our last publication, have been held at Newport, and Haverfordwest in Pembrokeshire. They were both attended but by a small number of buyers for the English fairs; the few however bought rather freely, but at low rates; about 250 head were sent off by four dealers, they were chiefly small two-year-old steers and heifers, at from £2 10s to £4 10s a head.
