—A number of gentlemen connected with the wine and spirit trade in Edinburgh, feeling themselves much aggrieved by the serious extent to which the system has arrived of private gentlemen dividing pipes of wine, brandy, &c., among their friends, to the very serious injury of the trade, made application to the Board of Excise, requesting their opinion as to its legality, and their prompt answer was, that there could be no doubt but the practice was illegal.—Glasgow Courier. |
