SARAH JANE SEWELL.
______

Sarah Jane SEWELL, wife of Joseph SEWELL, labourer, Ellenborough, was charged with having, on the 26th April, broken open and damaged a door, the property of Mr. Joseph RAY, coalminer, of Ellenborough.

The complainant stated that on the day in question some doors had been whitewashed and the defendant said she traced the whitewash to the complainant’s house. Complainant denied all knowledge of the whitewash, when defendant ran after her and followed her home. Complainant got into the house just in time to lock the door; but the defendant burst it open and damaged the door. When defendant got into the house she said complainant might be thankful that her husband was in, for if he had not she would not have left a hair in her head.

It appeared that both parties had used bad language. The Bench decided to dismiss the case on the defendant paying the expenses and the costs of repairing the door, which amounted to 8s 3d.
