ANOTHER EXTRAORDINARY
TRANSATLANTIC PASSAGE.
___

The Guion mail steamer Alaska, the greyhound of the Atlantic, left New York at 1-25 p.m. on Tuesday April 25th, and arrived at Queenstown on Tuesday at 6-15 p.m., making the passage in 7 days and 26 minutes.

She left her on April 9th, and arrived at New York on the 16th April making the passage in 7 days, 4 hours and 32 minutes, the round trip from here to New York and back occupying only 14 days 4 hours and 58 minutes.

It will be thus seen that the Alaska and Arizona have not been beaten yet, and are the two fastest ocean steamers afloat, and we understand that Mr. GUION, the owner, was in Glasgow on Friday last making arrangements for a new steamer, the Oregon which is to eclipse them both.

The following is an extract of the Alaska’s log:

April 26th, 368 miles.

27th, 402

28th 413

29th 402

30th 396

May 1st, 399

2nd, 396

total distance run, 2, 893 miles.
