DISPUTE ABOUT THE
OWNERSHIP OF A SONG.
___

In the Queen’s Bench Division on Tuesday the case of WALL v. HARRIS came on for hearing.

This is an action by Mr. Henry WALL, of Islington, against Mr. Charles HARRIS to recover a penalty to 40s and the damages, and asking for an injunction restraining the rendering of the song, “She wore a wreath of roses,” by Mr. J. P. KNIGHT, which had been sung by the defendant at a working men’s entertainment.

The defendant disputed the ownership of the song by the plaintiff, and denied that it was a dramatic piece or that it had bee performed at a dramatic performance, so as to fall within the copyright Act.

Mr. Justice MANISTY gave a verdict and judgment for the plaintiff for 40s and costs.
