CHARGE OF BURGLARY.
_____

Three men have been apprehended at Romford, and will be examined in the course of this week, on a charge of burglary at the house of the late Rev. Dr. NEWMAN, on the night after that gentleman’s remains had been removed for interment.

The prisoners when pursued by the police, leaped over a number of fences and gates, and attempted to mount the roof of a house. In the troughing of the house were found two brooches, a gold seal, and a silver whistle. On the railway embankment a number of skeleton keys were picked up. A “knuckle duster” and a life preserver were also found. One of the prisoners dropped a gold pencil case, and a carpenter’s stock and a knife had been left behind at Dr. NEWMAN’s residence.

A fourth man made his escape.
