ANGLING IN THE DERWENT.

Cold weather still mitigates the required success of local anglers, and in the higher reaches of the river, but little sport has been obtained in consequence.

The recent rains have certainly increased the waters, but warmth is the most needful of the many conditions under which the angler casts his rod and line.

During the week MR. STEPHENSON, Broughton, took six trout;   MR. ATKINSON, Broughton, four;   MR. REYNOLDS, Broughton Cross, two;   MR. WILSON, Camerton, three;   and   MR. IRVING, Broughton, one.

Others successful have been MR. D. PEARSON,  MR. J. BOWE,  MR. R. HEWITT,  MR. COOPER,  MR. JOHN FLEMING,  and  MR. J. PLASKETT, of Cockermouth.
