MESSRS. TATE AND GRAHAM'S BANKRUPTCY. The adjourned examination of Messrs. TATE and GRAHAM was fixed for Wednesday last, at the Court House, Cockermouth, before Mr. E. L. WAUGH, Registrar. There were present: Mr. T. B. MASON Mr. NICHOLSON Mr. TATE Mr. ECKERSLEY. Mr. GRAHAM of Carlisle failed to appear. Dr. W. RUSSELL, of Carlisle, certified that Mr. GRAHAM was confined to his house by illness, and would probably be so for some time. Mr. MASON said Mr. NICHOLSON, one of the trustees, would report that Mr. TATE had given every information, and in consequence need not be subjected to any examination that day. Mr. NICHOLSON said that Mr. TATE had not taken a very active part in the business transactions of the firm, but such transactions as he had given full and complete information about. The inquiry was then adjourned till Mr. GRAHAM is able to put in an appearance. ****** CLIFTON SCHOOL BOARD. The usual monthly meeting of the Great and Little Clifton School Board was held, on Tuesday afternoon last, at the Reading-room. There were present: Mr. SPENCE, chairman Mr. WHITE Mr. Jackson MOORE W. PAISLEY, clerk. The business transacted was purely of a routine character and quickly disposed of. ****** LECTURE. On Friday evening last a very interesting lecture was delivered in the Good Templar's Hall, by Captain J. Reilly M'DONALD, on the subject of "Coercion rule, and how to abolish it." The lecture was well attended, and at the close of it a hearty vote of thanks was accorded to the lecturer, who, in replying, asserted that he would support the Conservatives, as they did not sail under false colours like the Liberals. |
