Sales by Auction

To be sold by public auction, at the Athenaeum, Maryport, on Friday the 23rd day of June inst., at 4 o’clock pm, by Mr Joseph KENDALL, all that eligible, well-situated, and commodious property situate at No. 51 Senhouse-street, Maryport, consisting of Grocer’s shop and dwelling house attached, with large yard behind, containing wash-house, and store-rooms over, and a comfortable cottage-house, all which are now in the occupation of the owner, who is retiring from business.

Senhouse-street is the principal business street in Maryport, the chief entrance to the town, and a leading thoroughfare, and the property offered for sale is most centrally and eligibly situated and suitable for a large wholesale or retail business of any description.

Mr John JENKINSON has received instructions, under the will of the late Mr John TAYLOR, to sell by auction, at the Derwent Shipbuilding Yard, and at the Block Shop, Quay Side, Workington, on Wednesday and Thursday, June 28th and 29th, the valuable plant and stock-in-trade, including small engine, two boilers, 29 feet travelling bench, with circular saws, lathe, iron winch, iron saw bench, treenailing machine, timber, wheels, metal hammers, pine logs, firewood, scrap and new iron, anvils, carpenter, smith, and joiners’ tools, paints, and all the multifarious articles used in the shipbuilding and block and mastmaking business.
