REVENUE OF SCOTCH RAILWAYS. -- It is gratifying to notice that the revenues of the leading lines of railway in Scotland are more or less on the increase, as compared with the corresponding week of last year. The revenue of the following lines for the week of 1843, as compared with the corresponding week of 1842, stands thus: -- 1842. 1843. Edinburgh and Glasgow Railway............. £1573 £1830 Glasgow, Kilmarnock, and Ayr Railway........ 822 1108 Dundee and Arbroath Railway..................... 245 257 Arbroath and Forfar Railway........................ 124 200 Glasgow and Greenock Railway................... 645 662 The increasing success of Scottish railways thus demonstrated, should act as an encouragement towards the formation of new lines. |
