*************** EGREMONT DIVISIONAL JUNIOR LEAGUE. _____ ARLECDON RED ROSE v. MORESBY. Played at Arlecdon, on Saturday, before a good number of spectators. Mr. J. FINLINSON officiated as referee. The visitors kicked off, and in about ten minutes play Arlecdon scored through T. STABLES. Moresby now played up well, but the home eleven made head-way, and the result was that two more goals were put on by Arlecdon before half-time. Mores- by, by careful play, got the leather through the uprights twice. In the second half Arlec- don had matters very much their own way and LITTLE, STAINTON, and SABLES showed up prominently; shots were repeatedly sent in to the Moresby custodian, three of which scored. The visitors played a hard and fast game, but FROST and BAKER at back were bad to beat, and they only managed to score once. Result:--Arlecdon Red Rose, 6 goals; Moresby, 3 goals. *************** EGREMONT DIVISIONAL JUNIOR LEAGUE. _____ MORESBY BOARD SCHOOL BOYS v. WHITEHAVEN ST. NICHOLAS' BOYS. This match was played at Moresby on Saturday before a good number of spec- tators. The first half was evenly contested, each side scoring two goals, JENKINSON and BEVERAGE scoring for the Saints, while T. DIXON and BRAITHWAITE scored for the home team. After the interval the home players soon asserted their superiority and six more goals to their score--BIBBY (2), STABLES and BRAITHWAITE one each. Result--Morseby, 8 goals; Whitehaven, 2 goals. ************** PICA UNITED v. WHITEHAVEN Played at Pica on Saturday before a good gate. The home team pressed throughout the first half and scored four goals to nil. The second period was more evenly contested. Two more goals were registered for Pica, while Whitehaven failed to score. FREW, ROPER, and HARLIN were the scorers. Mr. Jas. FREW was referee. Result:--Pica, 6 goals; Whitehaven, nil. *************** EGREMONT DIVISIONAL JUNIOR LEAGUE. _____ KEEKLE v. HARRINGTON RED ROSE. These teams met on the Keekle ground on Sat- urday, before a poor gate, in wretched weather. The home team immediately attacked, and KNOX opened their score. By good combined play the visitors equalised with a good shot. ROONEY gave the villagers the lead. In the second half Keekle soon got the upper hand, and had matters pretty well their own way. T. KNOX, J. STEVENS, and J. CLARK further increased their score. Result: Keekle, 5 goals; Harrington, 1 goal. Referee, Mr. P. LACEY, Frizington. *************** WHITEHAVEN UNITED v. EGREMONT RED STAR Played in the Cricket Field, Whitehaven, on Saturday before a fair attendance. The turf was in a bad state. The visitors won the toss and played with the wind. The home team pressed from the commence- ment and ultimately ran out easy winners by 10 goals to nothing. *************** |
