CAMP MEETING AT GREAT BROUGHTON. - The Primitive Methodists of Great and Little Broughton held their annual camp meeting on Sunday last.    The REV. J. EASTWOOD, of Maryport, presided.  The meetings were well attended.

LECTURE BY A LIBERATED SLAV E. - Last night a lecture was delivered in the Baptist Chapel, Great Broughton, by the REV. T. L. JOHNSTONE, a liberated slave and a Baptist missionary.  The subject of the lecture was "Twenty-eight years of Slavery, and the Lord's work in Africa".  The REV. J. MCNAB presided, and there was a large and appreciative audience.

SUNDAY SCHOOL EXCURSION. - Yesterday afternoon the scholars attending the Christ Church Sunday-school, Cockermouth, had a trip to Bassenthwaite Lake accompanied by their teachers and friends.  The day was very favourable, and the children thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

A CONFUSED WITNESS. - During the hearing of an affiliation case, at the Cockermouth Petty Sessions on Monday last, a woman was called to speak to the time when the defendant went to lodge at her house.  She stated that he went to lodge with her about Easter, 1881.
   MR. ATTER, in cross-examination, asked the witness if she could tell the Bench about what time of the year Easter was.  She replied, "Yes, it was six or seven weeks before Christmas".  Witness subsequently corrected herself, and said Easter might be ten or thirteen weeks before Christmas.
