SHEPHERDS' CLUB WALK AND SPORTS. - Sports and club walk in connection with Ellenside Sanctuary of Shepherds (a branch of the Ancient Order of the Foresters), was held at Aspatria on Saturday last, in a field near the Station Hotel, kindly lent by MR. FREARS. The members assembled at the Market-hall at two o'clock, and headed by the Maryport Artillery Band, under the leadership of BANDMASTER THOMPSON, marched through the town; a cavalcade of horsemen both preceding and bring up the rear.

The procession terminated opposite the field near the railway station, where an amusing episode occurred through the presence of the Wigton County Court Bailiff, who had come to seize the property (regalia &c.) of the Society of Foresters, on a warrant granted on an order made by JUDGE INGHAM, at the Wigton County Court some months ago, in the case of the Ellenborough Brass Band v. Court Ellen Vale (Aspatria), of the Ancient Order of Foresters; the action having been brought to recover the price of a double B bombardon, which the plaintiffs alleged had been damaged through the culpable negligence of the Foresters at their club walk and sports last year.

It turned out, however, on the present occasion, that the club walk was held under the auspices of the Ellenside Sanctuary of Shepherds instead of the Court of Foresters. There were no banners or regalia of any kind, except the scarfs and their appendages, which did not belong to the society, but were the personal property of each individual.

The Bailiff was not satisfied with this explanation, however, and demanded the scarfs of the members. He succeeded in seizing two of them, though under the protest of the owners. This seemed to satisfy the officer of the law for the time being, and he returned to Wigton by the next train.

The business of the day then proceeded in the usual way. The first event in the sports was a two-miles bicycle handicap, for which very handsome prizes , to the value of £2 2s., had been given by MR. FREARS, of the Station Hotel.
Five started and the running was as follows:

D. PETRE (200 yards), 1st, a neat silver-mounted biscuit can
W. J. QUAIL (100 yards), 2nd, a timepiece
J. UNDERWOOD (80 yards), 3rd, a silver-plated teapot
Time, nine minutes.

There was a very large entry for a handicap footrace for juvenile Foresters, which was run in five heats, and the winner in each heat ran in the final and received a prize as under:

W. ROBSON, 1st, gold albert
J. BUCHANAN , 2nd, a pocket-knife
W. SKELTON, 3rd, a set of mounted studs
R. COWAN, 4th, a case containing knife, penholder and pencils &c.,
J. ALLISON, 5th, a plated albert.

The youths were well marched, and the racing was watched with much interest.

In the final heat of an open handicap foot-race of 130 yards, R. METCALF was first, MASON, second; and J. TEAR, third.

In running high-leap, the following were the winners of prizes

1st, J. NICHOL (4 ft. 10 in.)
2nd J. BENSON.

Five entries. Pole-leaping:

1st J. KENDALL
2nd and 3rd (divided) B. BENSON and J. BENSON.

A copper kettle and £1 10s. was given to wrestle for. In the final falls, DUNN threw J. TELFORD twice in succession and won.
