On Tuesday morning, the man HAILD, who was arrested at Plymouth, was discharged. Nothing had been found which raised a suspicion that he was connected with the murder, and the police declined to proceed with the perjury case. The police have resumed their inquiries in another direction, but their efforts are attended with great difficulty. Everyone is ready to theorise, but hardly a single practical suggestion has come to hand. The publication and universal circulation of a fac-similie of what is known as the decoy letter has produced no result whatever, and the police have hardly a single fact to guide them. There is now a reward of £300 for the discovery and apprehension of the murderer.
