TRANSFER OF LICENSES. On the application of Mr. WANNOP, the license to the Ship Inn, Rockliffe, was transferred from John JOHNSTON to Agnes JOHNSTON. The license to the Crown Inn, Broadfield, was on the application of Mr. ERRINGTON, transferred from George LITTLE to Joseph JAMES. _____ MORE SALMON POACHING. Jonathan OLIPHANT, labourer, Cockermouth, was charged was charged with having in his possession two unseasonable salmon. A watcher was near Harris Mill early on Monday morning when he saw two men in a field; they ran away on seeing the watcher; the defendant was caught, and he had two unclean fish in a bag. He was fined the full penalty and costs, amounting altogether to 7l 8s 6d; in default two months in gaol. _________ TRESPASS. Robert FRANCE, waller, Cockermouth, was summoned for trespassing in pursuit of game on land at The Hay, on the 26th ult. Several men were seen in a field by the gamekeeper, who caught the defendant, and four rabbits and six nets. -Committed to prison for two months. |
