THE TAY BRIDGE DISASTER. No more bodies have been recovered this week. The engineers making preparations to lift the wreck of the bridge have found that the girders of the first pier are so twisted and bent as to resemble crumpled paper. _________ THE LATE “WIZARD OF THE NORTH.” In 1849 the late Prince CONSORT presented Professor ANDERSON, “The Wizard of the North,” with a superb suite of Highland chief’s ornaments, and the Wizard going abroad, took them with him. The story of their wanderings is not known; but it has come about that a recent visitor to Natal bought the jewels at an auction there, and has brought them back to England in the original leather portmanteau, addressed “Professor ANDERSON, Sadler’s Wells Theatre.” _________ KESWICK. The Rev. J. Clifton WARD, F. G. S., gave a second lecture of a course at the Museum, Keswick, on Saturday evening, his subject being, “The Matter of Which Mountains are Formed.” _________________________ |
