We understand that the worn out organ, which was used at divine service in this Prison, has been replaced by a handsome American organ. The instrument is one manufactured by Messrs. HAMLIN and MASON, and supplied by Messrs. THURNAM of Carlisle.
The cost has been defrayed by private subscription, to which the lord Lieutenant, the Chairman of the Quarter Sessions, the High Sheriff, the members of the Visiting Committee, and other magistrates and their friends have been contributors.
The chairman of the Visiting Committee, Mr. R. S. FERGUSON, who has taken great interest in the matter throughout, has received the thanks of the Commissioners for the compliment which has been paid the Prison by the Cumberland Justices.
