THE WIGTON HOUSE BREAKING. ___ We are happy to state that the police have succeeded in capturing an individual suspected, on very clear grounds, of being one of the parties who recently broke into the shop of Mr. GRINDLE, grocer, at Wigton. His name is GILLESPIE, and he is well known as a disreputable character. He was traced in consequence of his having a short leg, and a boot made to accommodate the deformity was left behind on the premises by the robbers. GILLESPIE was apprehended on Monday, by HETHERINGTON, the Night Constable, in Union Street, Botchergate, in this city, and was taken before the magistrates at Wigton, on Tuesday last, when he was remanded for further examination until Saturday. *********************** |
