SIR HENRY POTTINGER AT MANCHESTER.

The banquet in honour of Sir Henry POTTINGER took place on Friday. It was in a great measure a counterpart to that at Liverpool, which we noticed last week.

Sir Henry arrived at Manchester about one o'clock, and was received at the railway station by a number of the principal merchants and manufacturers. The presentation of the address from the corporation took place at two o'clock at the Town Hall, where Sir Henry was received by the Town Council with loud cheers.

At five o'clock a numerous body of merchants, &c., assembled at the Mayor's house, when an address extensively signed by the mercantile members of the community, was presented to him. Mr. STEWART then announced to Sir Henry that the inhabitants of the town generally had entered into a subscription for the purpose of presenting him with a testimonial; which he assured them that he should feel both pride and happiness in accepting.

The entertainment was of a sumptuous description, nothing being wanting that could contribute to the comfort of the guests. After the usual toasts, the Mayor proposed the health of Sir Henry POTTINGER, eulogising in the strongest language his character and his great services in bringing about the treaty with China, which promised to be of such immense benefit to Great Britain.

Sir Henry, in his reply, went over the same topics as in his speeches in London and at Liverpool. His address was received with the most enthusiastic applause. A number of other toasts (including the health of Lady POTTINGER), having been given and responded to, the company separated soon after midnight.
