COCKERMOUTH POLICE COURT. Monday, April 24. (Before Colonel SEWELL (Chairman), Canon SHERWEN, W. L. ALEXANDER, and R. C. SHAWYER, Esqs.) ****** A CASE SETTLED. Roger ROBINSON, quarryman, Brigham, was summoned at the instance of his wife, Ruth, for desertion, and complainant applied for an order under the Married Woman;s Act, 1895. Mr. WALKER asked that the case might be withdrawn, as terms had been arranged between the parties, and the Bench agreed. ****** AN INEBRIATES' HOME WANTED. Ellen M'CALLUM, 50, married woman, Cockermouth, who was brought up some weeks ago on a charge of being drunk and disorderly, and had been remanded more than once in order that she might be sent to a home for inebriates, she having been frequently before the court, was again remanded for a fortnight, as a place ina home had not yet been found for her. ****** VACCINATION EXEMPTION. Mr. Richard WILLIAMSON, South Lodge, applied for an exemption certificate under the Vaccination Act for a child. He had a conscientious objection to the vaccination. The Chairman: I suppose it is really conscientious? Applicant: Yes, sir. The certificate was granted. ****** |
