On Saturday evening last an accident occurred at Grange Bridge, in Borrowdale, which might have been attended with very serious results. Mr. William Simpson, of Rosthwaite, and a friend, were returning home from Keswick in his market cart, and on descending the hill at Grange, the horse became unmanageable and dragged the conveyance over the bank towards the river. Mr. Simpson's friend succeeded in getting hold of the horse, but Mr.
Simpson was thrown out with great force, and on assistance arriving it was found that his thigh was broken and otherwise severely injured. He was
conveyed home in the best manner possible, and Mr. Dennison, the eminent bone setter, was sent for, who bound up the fracture.
