Choir Sunday and Empire Day celebrations were observed during  the weekend at Hogarth Mission, Whitehaven. The feature of the Sunday services  was old-time hymns and tunes, led most efficiently by the augmented choir, with  Mr. MARTIN as leader, and Miss. JEFFRIES presiding at the organ. At both  services Mr. DUTSON (the Missioner) was the preacher and on each occasion dealt  with Ministry of Song.

On Monday the schoolroom was suitably decorated and arranged for the Empire concert, for which Mr. R. A. HODGSON was the chairman. After the  opening ceremony by Mr. DUTSON the concert was given by Miss. WILSON, Mrs.  BAISLEY, duet; Mr. R. STEWART, accordian; Miss. RENFREY, solo; Mr. L.FITZSIMONS, humour.
Mr. John SOAR, bassoon; Mr. E. WRIGHT and Mrs. G. ASHCROFT,  solos; Mr. A. G. PATTINSON, piano; and Mr. J. PEARSALL,  entertainer.

Mr. DUTSON conveyed appreciation to the artists, and to the choir  members, who had organized the event.
