To Be Discussed in Present Session of  Parliament.

When Sir Malcolm STEWART was Commissioner for the  Special Areas he proposed the granting of a loan for the improvement of Whitehaven Harbour.

The Standing Orders Committee of the House of Lords,  presided over by Lord ONSLOW, on Wednesday agreed to suspend the standing orders  applicable to Whitehaven Harbour Bill so that it could be considered during the  present session of Parliament.

The estimated cost of the improvements to the harbour  is £25,000, and Sir Malcolm STEWART, in addition to a loan, made a grant of one  third of the cost.

The object of the Bill is to arrange the Harbour  Company’s finances to give effect to the grant and the loan.
