There was a good attendance of farmers at the Golden Lion Hotel, Whitehaven, on Thursday afternoon, when Mr. J. T. BRAITHWAITE, of Messrs MITCHELL and Sons, Cockermouth, offered for sale the freehold farm “Middletown,” near Egremont, at present occupied by Mr. Wm. BRIGGS. The property, which consists of a dwelling house, farm buildings and about 87 acres of land, was offered in four lots and as a whole. Only one bid of £800 was forthcoming, however, and that was for lot one, consisting of the farm house, buildings, etc., and about 44 acres of land. The property was withdrawn. The vendors’ solicitors were Messrs. ATKINSON, McKELVIE and TYSON, Whitehaven.
