BIRKETT. - In loving memory of John BIRKETT (plumber),  93 Main Street, Distington (late of Cockermouth), who died at Whitehaven  Hospital on the 22nd May 1937

Adieu, dear wife and rector true,
And all my  family I must now bid you adieu.
My sufferings and pain and anguish are  o’er,
My joy is on Heav’ns eternal shore.
In the grey of the morning  God’s messenger came
And quietly relieved our dear dad from his  pain.
A father so kind no one ever knew,
Our tears start afresh in  remembrance of you.
After much suffering comes rest.
Rest. Rest.  Sweet rest.
