28 September 1813 Privateers Capture Vessels Print E-mail
The brig Sampson, HARRIES, from Dublin for Swansea, arrived at
Milford, was on Sunday se'ennight, chased by a large schooner, supposed an American
privateer, having yellow sides and royal  yards across;  but Mr. HARRIES being
well acquainted, with the coast ran through Ramsey Sound, and escaped. The
schooner soon after stood to the westward and southward.

       List of vessels captured by two American privateers off the North
Cape, brought by the brig Brunswick, of Dublin, which arrived at Peterhead, on the
17th inst. with about 70 men on board, having been given up to the crew to
come home: -

The Concord, Parr, Diligence and Economy of London

Liberty, Betsy and Hope of Hull

Britannia, Ruby, Prosperous, Burton, Latona, and Friend's Adventure of
Shields.

Jolly Bachelor and Experiment of Aberdeen

Notingham, of Newcastle

Westmorland of Blyth

Brothers of Lancaster

Perseverance of Yarmouth

Thetis of Lynn

Brunswick of Dublin

       The privateers were to continue to cruise off  the North Cape, in
hopes of falling in with more of the Archangel ships; they are said to be part of
RODGER's squadron, - a brig and a schooner.
