                     A SILLY FREAK
A man named Thomas WILSON, a joiner, who had been
indulging too freely got on a horse standing at the door of an
inn in Wigton on Tuesday last.
The horse took fright and galloped towards home, and
WILSON was thrown off beside the metal bridge at the west
end of the town.
He was followed by several men when the horse started away,
and was found badly cut and bleeding.
He was attended by Dr. TIFFEN, and remained insensible for
a few hours.

          SUDDEN DEATH AT WIGTON

Mr Joseph SIMPSON, saddler, died very suddenly on Wednesday
evening last. He had just returned to his shop after being out
a short while, and complained that he was not very well.
His daughter brought a little spirit in a cup, and he took a part of it.
He said he felt a fluttering of his heart., and after walking two or
three times across the floor, he sat down.
He looked so strange that one or two neighbours were called in.
He was supported on his seat by Mr. BELL, a friend of the family
and died at once. Mr SIMPSON had been in business about two
years, having succeeded the late Mr William HENDERSON.
He was over thirty years with the late Mr HENDERSON, having
served his apprentiship with him, and it is very strange that his
master died suddenly in the same house about three years ago.
Heart disease was the cause of death.
Deceased was 48 years of age.
