STRANDING OF THE s.s. "MILLOM."

The s.s. Millom stranded on Monday evening on the Northside shore. She was bound for Workington from the Duddon with iron ore - Capt. LITTLE, of Whitehaven, master. She touched the ground about six o'clock, opposite the Moss Bay Ironworks. She was then one mile from the shore, and the crew found her to be fast making water.

They arrived at St. John's Pier about eight o'clock, and, in consequence of her condition the captain thought it advisable to run her in the beach. The crew, six in number, shortly afterwards left the vessel and proceeded to the shore in a boat. It was low water when she stranded.

Messrs. G. NELSON and Sons, of Whitehaven, are the managing owners of the steamer.
