THE STABBING AFFRAY AT WHITEHAVEN.

At the Whitehaven Police Court on Monday, John MOONEY, John CASSIDY and Peter CASSIDY were charged on remand with cutting and wounding Samuel MOONEY.

It appeared from the evidence that the prosecutor had gone home drunk on Saturday night, the 11th inst. Whilst in his lodgings in Bardywell Lane, and altercation ensued between him and the prisoners, in the course of which he received four wounds on the head, which necessitated his being taken to the infirmary. He was attended by Dr. LAMB

It was shown that a free fight had taken place, and that the wounds were only caused in self defence by the prisoners. - The case was dismissed.
