SILLY FREAK.

A man named Thomas WILSON, a joiner, who had been indulging too freely, got on a horse standing at the door of an inn in Wigton on Tuesday last. The horse took fright and galloped towards home, and WILSON was thrown off beside the metal bridge at the west end of town. He was followed by several men when the horse started away, and was found badly cut and bleeding. He was attended by Dr. TIFFEN, and remained insensible for a few hours.

ODDFELLOWS BALL AT WIGTON.

A ball was held in the Oddfellows Hall, Wigton, on Friday night last, under the patronage of the Oddfellow's Society. Twenty couples attended. The committee had decorated the hall very tastefully. Dancing was kept up till three o'clock, and all went off very well.

THE CUMBERLAND FOXHOUNDS.

This fine pack met at the Red Dial on Saturday last. About forty horsemen turned out. The day was very fine, but it was windy and not favourable for a good scent. Pow Gill, Speed Gill and Bolton parks were all tried without success, and a fox raised at Westward Parks only afforded a very short run, the "varmint" being lost near Tracentree.
