PLUMBLAND SCHOOL

AND SCHOOLMASTER.

Mr. W. PAISLEY, solicitor, said that he had an application to make on

behalf of Mr. John STRONG, who was one of the governors at Plumbland School,

for an order for ejectment of a gentleman of the name of BOLTON, who was till

the 10th of January schoolmaster at Plumbland School.

On the 10th of January he ceased to be the schoolmaster at Plumbland,

and with the cessation of the office of schoolmaster his tenancy of the house

he held terminated. Notice had been served upon him on the 10th of March in

the proper and legal way, and if he proved that and that the tenancy had been

determined, he should ask the Bench to make an order for his ejectment.

Mr. STRONG proved that he had served the notice on Mr. James BOLTON on

the 10th of March. Mr. BOLTON had the house he used as a teacher at the

school. He ceased to be teacher on the 10th of January, having resigned on the 9th

of January. They had a meeting of the Governors of Plumbland School. Mr.

BOLTON attended the meeting, and resigned on the following day.

The Chairman: Are you in a position to show that he held it as part of

his engagement? Mr. PAISLEY contended that the house had to be given up when

the appointment as teacher ceased. In answer to Mr. COLLIN, the witness STRONG

stated that on the morning of the 10th of March he went to the school and

sent the children home.

Mr. COLLIN: The whole thing is coming before the County Court next

Wednesday. Mr. PAISLY said that was on a different matter. Mr. COLLIN said his

client was getting out of the house and he would be out in a few days. The

Governors had acted in a very high handed manner and turned his client out.

The Chairman: I understand you to say Mr. COLLIN, your client will be

out by Thursday.

Mr. COLLIN: Yes.

The Chairman: Then I think we cannot interfere.

Mr. PAISLEY asked that his application be allowed to stand over for a

fortnight to see if Mr. BOLTON kept his promise to get out at the time stated.

- This was agreed to.
