PEACE SURETIES. At the Workington Police Court on Wednesday, Joseph TURNER, of Workington was charged with having used threatening language to his wife, Elizabeth TURNER, on the 10th inst. Complainant stated that on the day in question the defendant came into the house and made use of very bad language, and said he would be the end of both her and her child, adding "I will take your life; so help me God if I don't." Defendant left the house on Saturday and took the child with him. On the following Monday night the defendant came to her father's house when they had retired to bed, and knocked at the door, saying he would burst in if it was not opened. Complainant called of her father to open the door, but the defendant burst it open. Witness then went downstairs, and asked the man who was standing by to watch that the defendant did not again make any disturbance whilst she went for a policeman. Defendant was ordered to be bound over to keep the peace in his own recognizances of £20, and two sureties of £10 each. **********
