DEATHS. Sunday morning last, at Workington, Mrs. BECK, wife of John BECK, Esq., Comptroller of the Customs and daughter of the late Rev. B. ALLOTT, of this town. This excellent lady possessed the solid endowments of piety and virtue, in an eminent degree; and to an engaging disposition, added the graces of a highly cultivated understanding. In her, society has sustained the loss of a real ornament, and the poor that of a liberal though unostentatious benefactress. Her regretted death was awfully sudden. Awful instance of Mortality, in one family. The Rev. Edward BOWERBANK, A. M. (a native of this county) rector of Croft near Darlington, and of Barningham in the county of York, (and also a prebend of Lincoln) died some years since, a widower, leaving six children. Mr. BOWERBANK, (the father) after leaving the University of Oxford, was for some time domestic chaplain to the Bishop of Durham, (Dr. THURLOW) and his two sons received their full classical education at St. Bees School, under the tuition of that able and highly respected master, the late Rev. Mr. SCOTT. Tuesday the 4th inst. at Calder-bridge, Mr. Abram SOUTHARD, mason, aged 45 years. At Lanark, at the advanced age of 100 years and 15 days, Mr. William HUTTON, a native, and many years one of the Magistrates of that burgh.
