A lantern lecture, “Rambles in the Cumberland  Hills,” was  given by Mr. R.
W. HALL, Cockermouth, in Paddle School, on  Tuesday night. The lecture was
bright and interesting and was much enjoyed by  the large audience present.


A vote of thanks was moved by Mr. ANDERSON, chairman  of the committee. A
collection in the aid of the class funds realized 17s  6d.


This class formed two years ago by the late Mr.  Bertram CARR, held meetings
at High Dyke, but owing to the mansion not now being  available, the members
meet in Paddle School on alternative Tuesday nights. Mrs.  R. HAYTON,
Papcastle, is president and treasurer and Mrs. Bertram CARR, late of  High
Dyke, vice
president.
