A surprise programme, given by the young people of the  Netherton Wesleyan
Church, on Monday night, attracted a large congregation and  resulted in the
Renovation Fund benefiting considerably.


Mr. McMAIL conducted the devotional part of the  service, and Miss. McMAIL
was the accompanist. Solos were given by:  -

ERRAND BOY’S  OFFENCE.


Alexander MOORE (18), and errand boy, of 7 George  Terrace, Netherton,
appeared before Messrs. R. W. WATSON, chairman and T. BLAIN,  yesterday,
(Friday),
charged with riding a bicycle without a rear red light or  reflector on
Crosby
Atreet, Maryport, at 5-40 p.m. on November  16th.


P. C. NEWALL proved the offence and stated that the  defendant told him the
bicycle was borrowed. The owner did not know the bicycle  was out.


Imspector SEMPILL referred to the danger of cyclists  having no reflectors.
The Chairman, in ordering payment of 5s cost, said the  defendant might have
been run down by a motor car.
