The case of SHEWARD v. Lord LONSDALE (the horse dealing case), it is said, has been struck out of the cause list. __________ FREEMASONRY. The Earl of Bective, M. P., Provincial Grand Superintendent, has summoned the Provincial Grand Chapter of Cumberland and Westmorland to assemble at the County Hotel, Carlisle, on Tuesday next. __________ THE WEATHER. The weather continues to be most favorable for the country. This week there has been a good deal of rain, and the pastures look well. __________ WESTMORLAND CONSERVATIVE ASSOCIATION. Next week a meeting of this Association will be held, to consider the propriety of making the Association permanent, and of extending its objects to registration purposes and the general support of the Conservative cause. __________ CARLISLE CRICKET CLUB. This club will open the season’s play this Friday afternoon with a match between married and single, the teams to be selected on the ground. |
