The 63rd anniversary of the Wigton Primitive Methodist Chapel, which was celebrated during this past week was marked by a visit from the Rev. Wm.YOUNGER, Newcastle-on-Tyne, who addressed large gatherings on Thursday. He spoke in the afternoon, and afterwards a public tea was served by: - Mrs. PARR Mrs. J. SCOTT Mrs. JACKSON Mrs. BROUGH, William Street Mrs. MATTINSON Miss. VARTY Mrs. J. DIXON, George Street Mrs. W. DIXON, Stampery Mrs. W. PARR Miss. PATTERSON Mrs. THOMPSON Mrs. J. HOLLIDAY Mrs. JOHNSTON Mrs. HARRIS Miss. BARNES Miss. Mary PARR. In the evening the Rev. W. YOUNGER delivered his popular lecture, “What changes a young fellow into a great man.” The chair was taken by Mr. J. W. CROOKES, Wigton, and on the platform also were Rev. F. T. WILCOX, Vicar of Wigton, Rev. C. L. STOWE, circuit minister, Rev. C. BOOTH, Congregational Minister, and Mr. J. SINTON, Salvation Mission. Mrs. MATTINSON accompanied the singing, and at the close of an enjoyable lecture the Rev. C. L. STOWE voiced thanks to all who had helped. |
