There was a large attendance at the funeral of Mr. Joseph JOHNSTONE, Flimby.
The Rev. E.T. DOIG conducted the service in St. Nicholas Church. Mrs. R. STEPHENSON
presided at the organ, and the congregation joined in singing the hymn "Jesu, Lover of
my Soul." The chief mourners were Mrs. and Mr. SHAVE, London, daughter and son-in-law.
There were many beautiful floral tributes. Mr. DOCKERAY was the undertaker.
Mr. JOHNSTONE had been failing in health for some time and a few weeks ago he was conveyed to
Maryport Cottage Hospital where he died. He was well known in the village and was well respected.
His wife predeceased him a while ago. There are two grown up daughters, both married, one living abroad
and the other in the South of England. Much sympathy is extended to the bereaved.
The funeral took place from the Sun Inn, Flimby, as the residence of Mr. JOHNSTONE had been given up
when he went into hospital. Mr. and Mrs. STEPHENSON were intimate friends of deceased.
