SHEE appeared for the Roman Catholic prisoners. Fifteen witnesses were examined. Mr. SHEE having addressed the Court for his clients, Mr. PAISLEY, of Workington, addressed the Bench on behalf of the Orangemen. At a late hour in the afternoon the magistrates retired, and, on returning into Court, the chairman said they dismissed the cases against Joseph DIXON, James DUNN, John HOUSTON, Samuel SCOTT, Daniel DORAN, James HELDON, James M'CLOUGHLIN, Patrick MADINE, James SLOAN, James STAFFORD, and Philip WATERS. The first four are Orangemen, and the others Roman Catholics belonging to Cleator Moor. The Bench committed for trial at the Cumberland Assizes John BAWDEN, the leader of the Orangemen, Simon John CORDNER, Workington, Henry LAVERY, Whitehaven, John MOORE, Distington, Orangemen; and Thomas CAIN, Thomas CAVANAGH, John HANNEN, William M'HENRY, and James RYAN, Roman Catholics.
