The result of the Liverpool Cup goes far to prove Satiety one of the best three-year olds in training, and it is a pity that the son of Isonomy - Wifey was not entered for some of the classic races, as I am sure he would not have lacked supporters.  I am sorry that I overlooked his chance in my last notes, but I thought the L10 penalty which he had earned would keep him in his stable especially as the stable had two more representatives and one (Toscano), I thought was the best handicapped horse in the race.

And I think he could have won equally as easy as Satiety did, had he been started, as he easily won the Knowsley Dinner Stakes the same afternoon.

Phil greatly dissappointed his party, as he made a very poor show in the race, in fact, he was one of the first horses beaten, and I think his defeat of Sea Breeze in the Roses Memorial Stakes must have been a fluke.   Of the others little need be said.

Ashplant run a good horse, and he is sure to win a nice little stake before the finish of the season.  But Mosque behaved very badly at the post and delayed the start several minutes, when the flag did fall she was left at the post, and refusing to gallop afterwards, she was tailed off and finished a long way behind anything.

I was very pleased to see SIR R. JARDINE have a turn of luck, as he won three races on the first day and two on the second day of the meeting; and I believe that he has a very good colt in Stronvar as he has won the St. George Stakes in capital style.

The next week will only be a quiet racing week.  Lichfield meeting will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday, and Kempton Park on Friday and Saturday, but as I have no idea what is likely to run, I will not make my selections.

For the St. Ledger Stakes I would advise my readers to have a bit on

as I hear he is the selected one from MR. JOHN PORTER's stable, and as he is such a grand stayer, he is sure to run well, and will take all the beating the best of them can give him.  In my next, I will have a little to say about the Eclipse Stakes.
