WESLEYAN CHURCH, EGREMONT.

The harvest festival at this church was held on Sunday and Tuesday. The pulpit in the morning was occupied by Mr J. YATES, Frizington. In the afternoon a thanksgiving service was held under the chairmanship of Mr John WILSON, JP, and he and the Rev G. W. POLKINGHORNE gave addresses. Special music was rendered by the Choir, Mr J.W. HEBSON presided at the organ. Miss J. WILLIAMS sang a solo in an admirable manner, and the choir rendered the anthems " O come let us sing, " "Sing ye Jehovah's praises," and " The Lord is King " in a way that did them every credit.
At the evening service the preacher was the Rev G. W. POLKINGHORNE. Miss STOUT ably sang a solo, and the choir repeated the anthems. There were large congregations, and the services were bright and hearty througout. The sacred edifice was most tastefully adorned with flowers, fruit, grain, &c. Yesterday (Tuesday) a public tea was held in the Sunday Schoolroom, and was well attended. The tables were presided over by Mrs W. H. MITCHELL and Miss MITCHELL, Mrs GUNSON and Miss GUNSON, Mrs WEAR and Mrs BRERETON, Miss WILLIAMS and Miss RUMNEY, Mrs H. HARTLEY Mrs John WILSON. Mrs RICHARDSON was very attentive in preparing the hot water. A public meeting was subsequently held in the church, under the chairmanship if Mr M. WOODLEY, Whitehaven. The Rev G. W. POLKINGHORNE delivered an instuctive lecture on " The folks next door, and others." Suitable music was rendered by the Choir.
