On Monday afternoon, at the Agricultural Hall, Cockermouth, Messrs R. and J. R. MITCHELL offered for sale a dwelling-house situate at Fern Bank, Cockermouth, with garden, &c., attached, formerly the property of the late Mr Charles BROWN. There was a good attendance and fair competition. Mr J. H. FAWCETT initiated the bidding with an offer of £500. Mr. T. SMAILS offered £700, and with the competition between these gentlemen and Messrs John FEARON and W. ELLIOT, the bidding advanced to £860, at which price the property was knocked down to Mr ELLIOT. The vendor's solicitors were Messrs HAYTON, SIMPSON, and FISHER, Cockermouth.
