Through the unavoidable absence of Councillor F. S. PHILLPOTS, Mr. J. LITTLE
of Carlisle occupied the chair at the meeting of the Divisional Committee
held on Saturday at Workington. The committee were again honored by the
presence of the Mayor of Workington, Alderman L. CASSON.
A variety of administrative matters were dealt with. The progress report
showed that the society had admitted approximately 80,000 new members in both
sections during the first four months of the year. The Divisional progress
figures showed a steady increase . Arrangements were made for the June meeting to be held at Barrow when an opportunity had been given by the General
Committee to visit the fourth of the Society’s convalescent homes, opened in April
last, at Aldingham, Grange-over-Sands.
