PICNIC AND SPORTS AT LAMPLUGH:

A picnic and sports promoted by the committee of the Lamplugh Piano Fund were held in a field near the Hollins (kindly lent by Mr. John SHARPE) on Saturday afternoon.

The weather was very suitable for the occasion and there was a large attendance. A number of the events were confined to members of the Cricket Club and residents of the Parish,  but there were also a few open events which  drew a fair number of entries.  The principle event of interest was the fell race, but only four competitors ran. The distance was about three miles, from the race field to the cairn on the top of theKnockmurton Fell and back,  and the result was as follows:

1st, watch, Jeff. FROST, Arcedon (24 minutes)

2nd, clock, William TURNER, Lamplugh, (25  1/2 minutes)
