The staff of Messrs. ROBINSON Bros., Carlisle, and friends, had a
successful
carnival dance in the Crown and Mitre Hotel on Wednesday evening. Over 300
ladies and gentlemen took part and the orchestra was Don. WILSON’s
Piccadilly
Blue Boys, from the Plaza, Dumfries.
The hall and corridors were tastefully decorated and the lighting effects
were in charge of Mr. WALTON. The arrangements for the dance were made by a
committee consisting of Mr. MALLOWS, Mr. N. A. ANDERSON, Mr. COLLINS, Miss.
SURTEES and Miss. LONGMAN, while Mr. J. ANDERSON and Miss. E. COOPER shared
the
duties of secretary and treasurer.
